Brett is a PE, Civil Engineer, former CP&L engineer, with 35 years of experience in the electric utility industry.

Professional History:

  • 1982 - 1984 Carolina Power and Light Company – Co-op student. Product design and coordination including plant and yard storm drainage design for the Harris Nuclear Project

  • 1985 – 1986 Charleston South Carolina Naval Shipyard- Naval Architect Designed structural equipment foundations and facilities for US Navy destroyers and submarines.

  • 1986 – 1990 Carolina Power and Light Company – Engineer in the Transmission Line Engineering Unit. Designed various transmission structures and foundations. Structure material included concrete, wood, steel and lattice steel. Other responsibilities included helix and concrete design criteria, transmission line hardware specifications and structure spotting. Involved in computer programming utilizing Fortran. Computer aided design experience included Autocad, Intergraph 2-D, 3-D, Civil Structural Modeller, Rand-Micas and User Command programming
